Costa Honey Farm's campaign to Free Apiaries From Overspray is dedicated to raising awareness about the repercussions of egregious/illegal pesticide misuse. After losing our entire apiary due to the egregious/illegal application of Fipronil, we are committed to documenting this crisis and advocating for policy changes to protect our essential pollinators. By sharing this documentary, we aim to educate the public and inspire action in support of honeybee (and other pollinators) protection.
This is the swarm Florida Pest Control's Tech Sprayed with Fipronil. You can see the bees are calm and there is no comb. Fipronil should never be used on honeybees, on a hammock, at a mix strong enough to act like a knockdown killer, and the dead bees are supposed to be removed.
These are the Dead bees, weeks after Florida Pest Control's Tech illegally used Fipronil to kill a swarm os honeybees.
The tech left the bees there for weeks instead of removing them at the time of the kill.
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said they sent these bees to the lab to have them properly destroyed.... instead of having them tested. Is FDACS really allowed to destroy evidence, the smoking gun?
Are they mathematically incompetent or blatantly corrupt?

Sampling and Testing Acknowledgement

This Sampling and Testing Acknowledgement sets forth the terms and understanding between Dave Costa and Costa Honey Farm LLC (Beekeeper) and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) regarding additional sampling of Beekeeper’s hives to test for certain chemical substances.
Beekeeper is registered with FDACS’s Division of Plant Industry (DPI) as a beekeeper, holding Certificate of Apiary Registration Number 48024972 for hives located at 9695 SE 157th Lane, Summerfield, FL 34491 (Property).
Following receipt of a complaint regarding a pesticide application that impacted Beekeeper’s hives, DPI and FDACS’s Division of Agricultural Environmental Services (AES) conducted joint inspections of the Property. Based upon the results of that inquiry and pursuant to its authority under Chapter 482, F.S., AES initiated enforcement proceedings against the pest control operator that performed the pesticide application.
Upon notification of the results of that testing, Beekeeper requested that additional sampling and testing be performed on hives located on the Property. Pursuant to Beekeeper’s request, FDACS hereby agrees to conduct additional sampling and testing of Beekeeper’s hives located on the Property. Costs associated with this sampling and testing will be borne by FDACS.
Beekeeper expressly authorizes representatives of DPI and AES onto the Property for the purpose of taking samples from Beekeeper’s hives. Unless it is not feasible to do so, DPI and AES will take three samples (one wax, one nectar, and one honey) from each of Beekeeper’s five hives on the Property, for a total of 15 samples. The samples will be tested for the presence of certain pesticides, and the resulting report will be shared with Beekeeper.
Beekeeper understands and acknowledges that this additional sampling is being voluntarily conducted at the discretion of FDACS and is being performed as a service to Beekeeper. After the sample report has been shared with Beekeeper, Beekeeper further understands and acknowledges that this matter will be considered closed. No further action will be taken, and no additional reviews will be conducted by FDACS at Beekeeper’s request.
Beekeeper understands and acknowledges that FDACS is not responsible or liable for any damages, losses, or costs occurring from or related to this Sampling and Testing Acknowledgement or from the activities performed pursuant hereto. Beekeeper also understands and acknowledges that this Sampling and Testing Acknowledgement does not create and cannot serve as the basis for any claim, demand, right, or cause of action against FDACS.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Beekeeper, DPI, and AES have caused this Sampling and Testing Acknowledgement to be executed by their duly authorized representatives as of the date of signature below.
